Arboretum de la Petite Loiterie
La Petite Loiterie is endowed with a very special mission, inspired by the passion of its owners.
This botanical park presents a very broad spectrum of ligneous plant species, i.e. trees and shrubs. For enjoyment, for contemplation and for knowledge, the arboretum has been conceived in a way that teaches us how to look at trees differently and recognize them.
The planting approach is highly original, with trees and shrubs with similar leafs grouped together in the same areas. This helps to better distinguish species that often get confused and, within one species, to compare the different variants.
This pleasant landscape park is an ideal site to make oneself familiar with every technique related to maintenance and sustainable development, in particular trimming, and is a pilot site. There are more than 2,000 species and varieties of trees and shrubs that have been planted since 1995. The arboretum’s 16 hectares comprise of 3.5 hectares of prairie or humid areas and 4 hectares of woods. Its 2 km of country hedges and wooded strips are a favourite stamping ground for wildlife.
