  • Recent creation
  • Eastern garden
  • Follies

Château d’Apremont stands on the boundaries of the Berry region, on the banks of River Allier, based on the foundations of a great Anglo-Burgundiun fortress, it has remained the property of the same family since 1722. At its foot spreads the medieval village with picturesque flowered houses. In 1970, Gilles de Brissac opened to the public the flower park he had created to enhance the site. The creation of the garden, on a 4-hectare site, with its pond, cascade, lawns, tree, shrub and flower clumps required large-scale works. This modern Thousand and One Nights’ garden, where the rarest essences are kept, is adorned with ‘follies’ in the spirit of the second half of the XVIIIth century: a pagoda bridge with a scaled roof, a Turkish pavilion as well as a belvedere, overlooking the river and the village roofs.
