Type :

  • Arboretum
  • Exotic garden
  • Water

The developed area is made of two distinct spaces.

The Grande Rouge: a forest biotope.
The Grande Rouge is an ancient park predominantly covered with an oak plantation. However, it also presents a great number of other forest trees: hornbeam, beech, wild maple, chestnut, horse chestnut, American locust, Scotch fir, Pinus Pinaster… These are adult trees too, some are even extremely old, such as the sequoiadendron at the entrance of the park. The Grande Ilette: a riverside biotope with a zone liable to flooding.

The Grande Ilette breaks down into several areas. To start with, a woody area with ash and willow, with a draining gutter running through it and bordered with riverbank plants. At the centre lies a great prairie. On the banks of the Indre River, a pleasant path runs alongside the river, trees grow naturally and in a harmonious way. Ash, poplar, willow and alder are found there. The remains of an ancient park planted with exotic specimens can be noted, with American black walnut, bald cypress, alnus cordata, ashleaf maple et sequoia sempervirens.
