The Cradle of the Renaissance.Erected in the XVth and XVIth centuries by order of Charles VIIIth, Louis XIIth and Francis 1st, Château d’Amboise was one of the first truly royal residences.Following in the footsteps of the great Kings of France, you will discover a prestigious testimony to Gothic and Renaissance architecture.
Overlooking the town of Amboise and the River Loire, the castle’s gardens open on one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Val de Loire.It is composed of several entities:- the esplanade of honour- the North terrace- the woodlands, over all the East part- the pit and the exterior bastion.
Creation of the Jardin du Midi: you will access a terrace that was inaccessible beforehand, offering a panorama on the town of Amboise and nearby Clos Lucé. This contemporary garden oriented towards South is planted with Mediterranean essences.

The castle is open for visits all year long except January 1st and December 25th.
From January 2nd to February 28th : from 9 am until 12:30 am and from 2 pm until 4:45 pm
From February 1st to February 28th : from 9 am until 12:30 am and from 1:30 pm until 5 pm
From March 1st to March 31st : from 9 am until 5:30 pm
From April 1st to June 30th : from 9 am until 6:30 pm
From July 1st to August 31st : from 9 am until 7 pm
From September 1st to November 1st : from 9 am until 6 pm
From November 2nd to November 15th : from 9 am until 5:30 pm
From November 16th to December 31st : from 9 am until 12:30 and from 2 pm until 4:45 pm

On the A10, exit number 18 at Amboise/Château-Renault; take the D31 then the N152 to Amboise. On the A28, take the Tours-Sud interchange in the direction of the A85; on the A85, exit to Bléré/Amboise/Chenonceau; take the D31 to Amboise. The castle is indicated.
