Montpoupon is a privat castle in which the same family lives since 1857. Visiting the Hunting Museum, created by the actual owner you will discover all about hunting, it's traditions and all the trades depending on this way of life existing since such a long time !

At the rear of the chateau there is a view over the old French garden, surrounded by water.
Following the discovery of plans for a Jardin à la Française, dating from 1763 in castle archives, flowerbeds were retraced and a reflecting pool restored in 2008 to recapture the garden’s former grandeur.

The original walled grounds of the château consisting of some 20 hectares did not survive beyond the nineteenth century. Slightly upstream from the mill a road led from the entrance of the grounds up to the château and the road to Spain ran around them. In the 19th century the owners succeeded in having this road diverted in front of the château in order to provide access to the estate and the new outbuildings.
