The zoo-park of Beauval was created in 1980 at the heart of a wooded domain covering over 22-hectares. The park’s 4,000 animals are established at the centre of this English-style park, with its flowered and shady garden. The park has 4 tropical greenhouses covering more than 6,800m2, ancient trees (including a two-hundred-year-old sequoia), approximately 2,000 rose trees, a choice of local or tropical plant species depending on the animals and their natural habitat (eucalyptus or cactus in the Australian area, bamboos for the small Chinese pandas, a profusion of tropical species in the greenhouses etc.). Numerous pools are scattered around the park, which a river crosses from one extremity to the other. Educational labelling will make your walk an opportunity to recognize the various plants and discover the right types for the exotic animals’ living environment.
