The Cradle of the Renaissance.
Erected in the XVth and XVIth centuries by order of Charles VIIIth, Louis XIIth and Francis 1st, Château d’Amboise was one of the first truly royal residences.
Following in the footsteps of the great Kings of France, you will discover a prestigious testimony to Gothic and Renaissance architecture.
Overlooking the town of Amboise and the River Loire, the castle’s gardens open on one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Val de Loire.
It is composed of several entities:
- the esplanade of honour
- the North terrace
- the woodlands, over all the East part
- the pit and the exterior bastion.
Creation of the Jardin du Midi: you will access a terrace that was inaccessible beforehand, offering a panorama on the town of Amboise and nearby Clos Lucé. This contemporary garden oriented towards South is planted with Mediterranean essences.
